hello.

i stumbled across this site from a google search. im a serving SNCO with 220 Signal Sqn 21 Signal Regt.

i have been "tasked" to research the Sqn history of 220 Signal Sqn, any relevant moves, including dates , operational tours, photos if possible. More so why 220 have the red scorpion as there Sqn symbol.

along with this 21 Signal Regts history from 1992 to present day....i have been in touch with the archivist at the corps museum in Blandford and they have told me that there isnt much documented from 1992 to present day - apart from the "Wire" monthly magazines.

i am heading to blandford on Tuesday with the RSM in order to sift through the wire mags and gain as much info as we can...

If anyone on here can aid me in piecing together the regts history from 1992 to present day i and the regtl RSM would be greatfull.

Regards jayfer

How do. Somewhere I have seen a reference to the scorpion being used by one of the units in the desert campain and adopted by 220.
I'ts great to have a serving 21er browsing our site. As you will see I have been pushing the idea of an Air Formation Signals museum alongside the RAF one in Laarbruch or as part of it. I got in touch with 16 Signals in the hope of getting a 21 Signal Regiment Notice Board made and erected next to the RAF one but so far no luck.

One of the gang has been thinking of going down to Blandford to look through the the old copies of the Wire for photos of the Princess Royals visit and the Guard of Honour which he was a member of in I think 60 0r 61.
I have sent loads of photos down in the hope of getting some back out of the Wire, but as the museum is manned by volunteers they don't have the time to scan all the copies they have. I think that would take a team.

I will have to get down there before I get much older. Have you had a look at David Vickers Air Formation website there is some history on there as well?

All the best, in your quest.

Regards Bill
